The new Star Wars Vintage collection and the Black series are unveiled – AIPT

0

On Wednesday, Hasbro used its Fan First Live Stream to unveil a boatload of new figures for their Vintage Collection 3.75″ scale line. Some Black Series products were also revealed, but they weren’t as good or plentiful.

Our recap of what was shown will begin with the Vintage Collection offerings. We already got to see Figrin D’an yesterday, but there are still a lot of good things to come. Most of them won’t hit stores until Spring 2023 (ugh), but that just means we can add even more items to our overflowing pre-order lists.

Arc Trooper Jesse

A single-card version of the big picture Arc Trooper 3-pack released last year. It will retail for $14.99 and will go up for pre-order on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. at most major retailers.

Shae Vizla

Even though I wasn’t very familiar with the Expanded Universe material this character appeared in, I still thought she looked cool enough to get the original figurine in 2012. I also thought I didn’t need to pick up the reissue, but then Paul from the Jedi temple archives posted a comparison photo and yes… it may have to happen. Face portrayal is exponentially better and armor detail is fantastic.

The figure will retail for $16.99 exclusively through a fan channel (online toy stores) and will be available for pre-order on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EDT. It’s also slated to arrive in the fall of this year, which seems lightning fast compared to the glut of other pre-orders we’ve had recently.

Mandalorian Death Watch Airborne Soldier

This incredible figure is based on the Mandalorian airborne soldiers as they appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Even if you think you have enough 3.75″ scale Mandos, the weathering and emblem details on this one make it impossible to pass up.

The figure will retail for $14.99 and will go up for pre-order Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EDT from most major retailers.

Captain of the Mandalorian Super Commando

I was hoping Gar Saxon with a removable helmet, but will pick up a pair anyway (if they don’t sell out). I know some people don’t like the “Mauldalorian” design, but I love it.

The figure will retail for $14.99 and will go up for pre-order Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EDT from most major retailers.

Lando Calrissian (Battlefront II)

I had no idea Lando appeared in Battlefront II, but that figure looks so good that I might have to buy one anyway. It will retail for $16.99 as a fan channel (online toy store) exclusive and will be available for pre-order on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EDT. Like Shae, Lando will hit toy shelves this fall instead of next year.

Imperial Death Trooper 4 Pack

There’s a lot to frustrate with Hasbro’s Star Wars team lately, but you have to give them credit for these excellent Trooper build packs. I’m already good at Death Troopers, but it’s great for people who want even more.

The Imperial Death Trooper 4-Pack will retail for $44.99 and will go up for pre-order on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EDT exclusively at Hasbro Pulse. It should arrive this fall.

vintage collection

  • Klatooinian Raider (meh)
  • Artillery Stormtrooper (dual meh)
  • Luke of mandalorian Season 2 (YES!)
  • Dark Trooper (YES!!!)

The Hasbro team mentioned that the Dark Trooper will be part of a world building set. With any luck, it will also come with a single card. They also revealed that there will be a full Cantina Band/Modal Nodes pack at some point in the future.

Oh, and one more thing – Hasbro actually released a statement regarding Walmart pre-orders:

Recent Walmart Exclusives – Product Availability Update

Thank you to the Star Wars fan community and your support of recent Hasbro product launches. We wanted to share an update regarding the Walmart exclusives revealed last month. Additional quantities of STAR WARS THE VINTAGE COLLECTION 3.75 INCH IMPERIAL GUNNER, ARTOO-DETOO, STORMTROOPER, BESPIN SECURITY GUARD (HELDER SPINOZA), and BESPIN SECURITY GUARD (ISDAM EDIAN) figures will be available in Walmart stores later this fall.

Honestly, I’m just impressed that they dared to utter Walmart’s name this time around rather than refer to a generic “pre-order experience” that apparently has no chance of improving.

Now let’s take a look at the Dark Series offerings, which weren’t quite as good, but still worth considering.

Seen Gerrera

I’ve been very critical of Hasbro’s selection/price of “deluxe” figures, but this one seems a bit more justified than what we usually see. In addition to being based on a great character, the figure has a beautiful portrait and unique tooling. It’s still overpriced for my liking at $33.99 (especially with only two attachments), but at least the door is still open for me to give in and buy one.

Saw Gerrera goes up for pre-order on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EDT. The figure is expected to arrive in the spring of 2023.

RC-1207 (Sev)

Yet another member of Delta Squad enters the Black Series toyline. Now we just need Burn to complete the set.

The figure is part of the Gaming Greats sub-line and will be sold exclusively through GameStop. It will retail for $27.99 and will be available for pre-order on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EDT with an expected arrival in winter 2023 (!).

Infinity Darth Vader

The new Star Wars Vintage collection and the Black series are revealed The new Star Wars Vintage collection and the Black series are revealed The new Star Wars Vintage collection and the Black series are revealed The new Star Wars Vintage collection and the Black series are revealed The new Star Wars Vintage collection and the Black series are revealed

It’s a really deep cut of a Star Wars: Infinites story where Vader learns that Leia is a Skywalker and turns well, causing a Gandalf-like wardrobe change in the process.

If the figure was $20, that seems striking enough that I’d probably pick it up. At $27.99, however, it’s an easy pass. If you want one, it will be sold as a fan channel (online toy store) exclusive and available for pre-order on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EDT. The figure is expected to arrive in the spring of 2023.

Princess Leia Organa

As someone who reads Star Wars comics, I love the look of this figure even if it’s not quite accurate to the source material, especially the facial portrayal. It will retail for $27.99 and will be available for pre-order on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EDT with an expected arrival in Spring 2023. It will also be exclusive to the Fan Channel (online toy stores).

I’m one of the few Star Wars collectors who isn’t a huge Stormtroopers fan, but this guy is a definite exception. If Hasbro charges $27.99, then it will need to be more specific than that.

The figure will be available for pre-order on Thursday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EDT with an expected arrival in Spring 2023. Like the last two, it will be a fan channel (online toy store) exclusive.

  • Grogu (don’t need another one)
  • Mayfeld’s Migs The Mandalorian Season 1 (yes).
