LOGAN SQUARE – An outdoor art fair is coming to Palmer Square Park this weekend.
The first Palmer Square Art Fair is scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 30 vendors and makers, most of them from the Logan Square area, will sell everything from art prints and jewelry to ceramics and vintage clothing, organizer Hannah Sellers said.
For a full list of vendors, visit the event website.
Sellers is a Logan Square-based artist who makes clothing, screen prints and more under the name catdroool. She said she was inspired to start the Palmer Square Art Fair after watching other artists get kicked out of other fairs due to high selling fees.
Vendors set the Palmer Square Art Fair auction fee at $30 to ensure there is no barrier to entry. Other fair organizers charge $100 or more, she said.
“I wanted to take matters into my own hands and create a space for artists to meet other artists and create this platform that everyone could share,” she said.
The city-approved Vendor’s Fair will be held on the east side of the park near Humboldt Boulevard. If all goes as planned, she plans to hold similar events in the future.
“I saw an opportunity to create a really good sense of community,” she said. “I really hope people feel that vibe and have a good time meeting people.”
